Digitalisation
Converting paper-based or manual processes into digital ones.
DigitalisationHelping your organisation work smarter with technology, not as an IT project but as a way of working. is converting paper-based or manual processes into digital ones. An order form that no longer goes round on paper but sits in a system, an approval that no longer needs a signature but just a click: that is digitalisation in practice.
The gain lies in time and overview. Digital data only needs to be entered once, you can find it again easily and you can link it to other systems. Paper, on the other hand, gets lost, has to be retyped and is hard to search.
Digitalisation is, however, something different from digital transformation. The first converts existing steps to digital; the second rethinks the way of working itself. Digitalising a bad process only makes it go wrong faster, so first check whether the step itself is still needed.
