Continuous improvement
Small, ongoing improvements instead of one big project.
Continuous improvement means you keep refining things in small steps instead of waiting for one big project. Every week or month you tackle something that could be better, and over time those small improvements add up considerably.
The strength lies in the rhythm. A big project takes a lot of preparation and only delivers late, while small improvements have an immediate effect and carry little risk. What's more, your people stay involved, because they quickly see their own ideas put into practice.
It only works if you keep it up. A one-off clean-up changes little; a habit of continuous improvement does. That's why it needs structure: a fixed place to collect ideas and a moment to pick them up.
