Programme manager
The person who oversees several related projects and aligns them towards one shared goal.
A programme manager looks after the whole when several projects work together towards one goal. Where a project managerBringing one clearly defined undertaking to a result within scope, time and budget. is responsible for one clearly defined project, with its own scope, timeline and budget, the programme manager steers on how it all fits together: the dependencies, the order and the people and resources shared between those projects.
The difference from a product owner and a product manager lies in the focus. A product owner is a role within agile teams: that person sets the priorities for one product and translates the wishes of the business and the users into a work list for the team. A product manager takes a broader, longer-term view of that same product: the vision, the market and the roadmapA digital roadmap is your step-by-step plan for digitalisation: which steps you take in which order, so you don't have to do everything at once.. Both revolve around a lasting product, not around a temporary project or programme.
In short: a project manager delivers one project, a programme manager aligns several projects with each other, and a product owner or product manager makes sure the product itself grows in the right direction.
