ERP

A single system that brings together core processes such as inventory, accounting and orders.

ERP stands for Enterprise Resource Planning. It is a single system that brings together the core processes of your business: inventory, accounting, purchasing, orders and often more. Instead of separate packages that each keep their own data, you work from one shared source.

The big advantage is that information is entered only once and is available everywhere. When someone places an order, the stock level is updated straight away and the accounts are prepared. That saves duplicate work and reduces the risk of errors that arise when data drifts apart.

Introducing an ERP system is no small undertaking. It touches almost every process in your business, and therefore the way your people work too. The technology is usually not the hardest part; bringing the organisation along is.
