Cybersecurity is the set of measures you use to protect your systems and data against digital threats. It covers intrusion attempts, viruses, ransomwareExtortion software that locks your files until you pay. and fraud, and everything you do to keep them out or limit the damage.
It is a misconception that this is only a matter for large companies. Smaller organisations are in fact a favourite target, because their security is often looser. A single successful attack can paralyse an SME for days or expose sensitive customer data to the world.
Good security is a combination of technology and people. Firewalls and updates are part of it, but most incidents start with an employee clicking on the wrong link. Awareness and simple habits are therefore just as important as the technical measures.
