Who Walter is.
Walter comes from a background where IT and business have been intertwined for twenty years. As a Business Unit Manager he has seen larger organisations work from the inside, and as a programme manager he has guided teams of two to eighty-five people. That gives him a good nose for when a project is stuck on technology versus when it's stuck on people.
His focus is on programmes where both the organisation and the system have to evolve: programme management, change managementMensen meekrijgen in een verandering, zodat nieuwe manieren van werken ook blijven plakken. and transformation, not just the technology. Co-creation between business and IT is what makes him happy. Not because it's a nice word, but because he knows that an implementation without a change in the way of working usually half fails.
Today he also writes about what he sees, with blog posts on leadership, steering programmes and the practice of digital transformation in SMEs. They're not theory pieces, but stories about what works in the real world.
I listen, guide and sometimes make the call. A team gets further when the environment is right, and my job is to create that environment rather than claim the lead role.
